I have chosen to work with animals because they are my passion and also because I know happy pet families keep their pets.  I truly enjoy seeing the joy in a happy pack.       

I have continuously owned a dog since Wiggles, my first dog at age 10.  She was a lovely little black and tan terrierX that lived until she was 17!   From that day on my dogs have always been adopted from a shelter or are rescues I have found on the streets.  I have spent time in shelters as a volunteer and had many a foster dog.  This gives me a unique understanding of problems of many adopted rescues.  They have all taught me something about caring for them.  I also have worked assisting veterinarian early in my career so I am aware of health issues with dogs.  I insist my dogs are mannerly as it adds to the joy of having them in the house.  I can help you with this if you are having problems.

 I have a B.A. in Anthropology (WSU, '81) which has taught me to use  participant observation as a method or a means to understanding 'systems'. In our case, the family (pack) is the system. The animal or pet's behavior is what is observed within the context of the family in order to solve behavior issues. Many times our dogs are confused by lack of leadership, nervousness and ranges of signals rather than one command from the pack leaders.

Since the 70's (that would be the 20thC!) I have followed a natural, whole food and organic lifestyle as well as herbal healing practices.  Once I started receiving massage as part of my personal health care I knew I wanted to add that to my repertoire for the dogs.  I am not a purist so please dont be surprised if you see me at the cafe eating a sweet with my java!  I have transposed this lifestyle into my pets' over the years as they too deserve good health.  Health is important for dogs in resisting parasites as they prefer a weak host.

DELICATE PAWS LLC is small home-based business started just over 2 short years ago.  I completed my 500 hours training at a State Dept. of Agriculture Certified, American School of Dog Grooming in the Detroit Metro Area. I am also Red Cross Certified in Pet First Aid.
